Love one another.

John 13:34-35
"A new command I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

The Bible teaches us that the God we believe in is a God of love.He loves those who belong to Him- He loves us, His children and He also loves those who are outside of His family.

It is easier to love and esteem one another as fellow believers in Christ Jesus. Now that we are in Christ we must view each other in the body of Christ as our brothers and sisters. Then loving one another becomes natural and easy. Loving our brothers and sisters in Christ should flow naturally, just like loving our blood brothers and sisters.

This love distinguishes us as followers of Christ(1 John 3:23). It is a self-giving and sacrificial love that seeks the good of another (1 John 4:9-10).Our relationship is characterised by a devoted concern that seeks to promote the highest good of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

It is important that we learn to extend our love beyond those whom we are comfortable with. Often times we find it hard to love, edify or encourage them. We find it hard to hold them in high esteem because they have faulted us. It is easier to ignore them even though we may not take revenge.

But Jesus says, "don't resist an evil person" (Matthew 5:39). What He means is that when we are wronged we are not to react with hatred, but in a way that shows we have values that are centred in Christ. To be more like Jesus means to love others as we love ourselves.

Romans 12:9-12
Love must be sincere.Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honour one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction , faithful in prayer.
